Can anybody with a Raptor 16mb cache version run HD Tune Pro 4.50 and let me know if in the disk health SMART tab you have a Orange warning bar near the bottom with " Ultra DMA CRC error rate " ? as all my Raptors show the same warning in different computers so i think it may be a false Positive as any other program that shows smart status shows the drive as healthy with a green tick and pass on everything.

Thanks

Here is a pic of my Raptor, it has the same thing but has been running fine for years in the 2nd PC.

Thanks occuda as thats the same exact warning.

It's definitely a problem with 4.50 and Raptor drives for some reason as i just tried an older version of HD-Tune and every status line is ok and i just tried speedfan as that has disk info and it passed with everything ok.

Wonder how many people have seen this and thought they had a problem.

It randomly does this on different entries on different drives - I think its just the SMART data isn't properly recognised/handled on all drives.

I can confirm that the problem is with HD-Tune 4.50 giving a false alert with the older Raptor drives as i bought 2 brand new factory sealed 150gb 16mb cache raptors from a shop clearance about 6 weeks ago and both drives show the same "Ultra DMA" alert with HD-Tune but when i test the drives via speedfan and Western digital official HDD tester for the Raptor drives both pass and both say the "Ultra DMA" is perfectly fine.

I was speaking to somebody in the USA yesterday that sells Hardrives on Ebay and he also confirmed that the problem is just HD-Tune that started around version 4.01 with false alerts. He also said that the company that owns HD-Tune started buying into Hardrive DATA recovery that they charge a Fee for so make of that what you will.
