Hi, i'm about to build a new computer but i'm a bit stuck on the hard drive configuration.I play mostly games and i'm building a high end rig,do i buy..
2 Raptor 74GB WD740ADFD (raid 0 plus my old raptor as back up) or
Raptor 150GB WD1500ADFD
Been searching for reviews and tests comparing the newer Raptors in single/raid 0 but can't find any.
Thanks

raptors in raid? why oh why are you even thinking of doing that what a waste of money why not get a scsi disk if you want faster performance, raptors in raid dont get that much faster its not even worth considering the data loss if one fails, and you would be using an old raptor for backup ROFL what a waste whats wrong with using the old raptor for OS the new ones for games and a normal cheap large hard drive for backup and everything else

There is NO noticable difference in having a raid 0 array on a PC. The risk of disk failure far outway the small increase in performance which will be only noticible in benchmarking and have no real benefits in games, windows or applications. As Cessna quite rightly states why not have your raptors for specifcs instead.

It is important to note that there are no benefits at all for having raid 0 in a pc. The only raid worth having is raid 1 as you will have a backup and again the performance diference is negligible. So if you have sensitive information that you want to keep, your better off with an external drive or simply a DVD backup.
