Ok So I own a 74GB Raptor and a pair of 7200.10's

I'm considering selling my Raptor and using the Seagates in RAID 0. And then purchasing another pair of Seagates(Possibly)...

What do you guys think? Will there be much difference in performance? And in what areas would I notice it?

As a generalisation - the raptor will give better performance when working with lots of small files i.e. booting up windows and seagates in RAID0 would give better sustained transfer rates i.e. file compression/decompression... gaming it tends to balance out as most games use a mixture of lots of small files and a few large files when loading...

Personally I'm not a big fan of raptors but I wouldn't say no to 4 of them in RAID0 :D I'd say sell the raptor while they still command a price premium.

Gotcha... well I will be playing some games and storing a lot of large files. So I guess Seagates are the way to go.

get two Raptors in RAID 0 array if you can. That is the best all round option for speed. Then have a large capacity hard disk for backup. More expensive but certainly gives you the best of both worlds.

I've decided to go for two 320GB 7200.10's in RAID 0 and then a 500GB drive as backup :)
