Been following these for the last few weeks and they're slowly going up in price, they've just gone up another £5 since Tuesday

Yeah Raptors are a waste now. SSD's are all over them and even the latest 7200rpm drives can exceed the Wraptors in outright transfer rates.

WD wasted their opportunities imo. They should have priced them at a reasonable rate and created higher capacities to make better use of that high spindle speed and increase the transfer rates far beyond the mainstream drives.
We all know it's possible as the SAS drives manage it, WD have just been lazy and hoped the Raptor name alone would do the job in selling the drives.

They are slowly loosing ground.

I have my 300gb VR and Im happy with it. I have 160Gb of stuff installed (Many many games, applications etc) But I have files etc stored on my WHS. 64Gb would be nowhere near enough for me. The seek times and access rates are still half that of a standard 7200rpm drive, so they are still quicker at response times. However, they do need to be cheaper to sell.

Just check and I currently have 58gb, would be a tight fit if I imaged one to the other lol

This could quickly turn into a spec me a SSD thread
