Raptor Q!

It depends what you're coming from.

I went from a single Seagate (7200.8) 200GB with windows installed to a 36GB raptor 8mb and had windows on that with the other drive used for storage.

I installed my games on the raptor and other apps on the seagate. I noticed a considerable speed increase with the raptor during game loading times, unraring etc.

However, if you currently have a fast 7200 rpm drive (such as the seagate 7200.10 series) then i doubt that you would see a big increase in loading times. Random access will be slightly faster but the difference won't be worth it over the 7200 rpm drive.

this week i went from a 200gb maxtor ide drive to a 74gb 16mb raptor and there is a big difference in everything. i had formatted windows on my maxtor before and do i can tell it it is quicker not just because of fresh install

Yeah but it's Maxtor 99% of the drive were bad sectors, so you will notice the difference between that and a working drive. :D

drive is still perfect after year. had 2 80gb in raid for 3 years without problem. only just upgaded for more space

You would notice a small difference overall with the Raptor 150 but the current 7200RPM drives are more or less on par with the old 36 and 74 Raptors.

was originally going to get a 200Gb Segate 7200.10. if i got for this over the raptor, ill hardly see a difference?
Yes, there won't be much in it. The seagate 7200.10 series have better sustained transfer rates than the raptors and are very nippy. However, i think the extra cache of the higher capacity drives would give better performance. ie 250GB+.

I would just go for the seagate for the added space and small speed difference between that and the raptor.
