I was just wondering, is it really worth having a raptor. My mate just got a new PC with a 150GB raptor, the boot times arent greatly improved (only 2-3 seconds faster) and the noise of it is quite loud for a HDD that costs 125 notes. So is it really worth having one?

I was happy with mine when I bought but that was 2 years ago. I mounted in mcubed hard disk coolers so noise isn't a problem for me.

If buying now then I wouldn't bother as the latest 7200 drives in a RAID0 can beat them.

Yes Raptor drives are very important for a fast OS. It's all about access time and NO 7.2k RAID or otherwise can touch it in that department.
