Raspberry Pi 5 Announced!

I'll might get another SD card, although I hadn't thought about an SSD, I'll see if I can find one around and get an adapter. Probably wouldn't cost too much more than an SD card.

yeah and faster too, for LMS it was really hogging during the artwork resize, but with SSD it was several times faster. I have two 64GB SSD's so I make a backup image so if one gets corrupted I can recover it

I bought a Pironman case for mine, then overclocked it a bit due to the additional cooling..
As of about an hour ago it was just sat there doing nothing, now its running PiHole and I might stick a VPN on there when I get back from dinner...

Well its been sat there since I built it into the case doing nothing, was going to be used for my 3d printer until I changed direction slightly on that, so its just been sat there powered on, doing nothing, someone further up this thread mentioned PiHole, so I had a look, and a quick Splashtop into my machine at home, reconfigured my router, installed PiHole and now its doing PiHole/DHCP stuff, give it another hour and it'll be doing a few other things as well..

I'd like to be able to use it as some sort of gateway where it will control bandwidth to certain devices around the house and maybe some QoS as well as the NowTV router is dogsh, rubbish...

Do, for those on here using PiHole, with VPN, which VPN server are you using?
The PiHole guys are now saying OpenVPN isn't up to the job and recommend Wireguard instead..

Anyone here used either, and have any input?

I probably need to wait until I'm home and do a bit more reading and decide what I want to do from there, PiHole is doing its thing at the mo, I'll see what else I can do that'll give me some stuff to learn and play with.

16GB Rasp Pi 5 being announced this week apparently, no idea what I'd use that amount of RAM for!
Wonder if it would help with 4K video playback? Not sure whether the CPU or 8GB RAM is the limiting factor for this kind of thing on a Pi 5. Perhaps with the Raspberry Monitor, a 16GB Pi 5 would be getting closer to being a contender for a daily computer maybe for younger children?

Nah, wouldn't make a difference. My Kodi box is only 2GB RAM and that plays 4K no problem. Apart from VC-1
