I've been using a Rasp'Pi running openelec for quite a while now and I love it. Great little media centre for the money.

Anyway, I have just got myself a NAS setup instead of using an external drive plugged into the Pi via USB. I have my Movies, TV Shows, Music etc all setup and working great from the NAS.

When it was connected via USB I could browse the HDD from the Pi and play video files which weren't scanned to my library i.e. Holiday videos etc. I can't seem to find a way to do this now that I'm using a NAS... any suggestions?

I'm using a DLink 320L.

Thanks.

Try adding the networked drive as a folder, don't assign it as movies/music/tv etc just leave it as a basic folder. *should work*

Goto videos, files, Then you will see your main folder for movies. TV shows etc. Click whichever you want to browes. If you have for example Movies, Movies (2) one will be the usb and the other is the NAS. Once you click on it you are in the main folder ie Shared Videos/Movies.

I have the exact same setup (apart from I have the HP N54L as a NAS).

All you need to do is enable samba on the NAS, share the folder (that should all be quite easy through the NAS interface), then go into Videos, add a folder and browse to the network location.

Of course, I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier - just add it as a video folder but don't set any scrapers! I didn't really want any erm... shall we say, adult art films, to be picked up by the scrapers and put into video libraries.

My original question was legit though, as I have some GoPro footage of a Skiing holiday I want to be able to access, so not all filth and deprivation :)

You could set multiple Sources and only scrape those that you want to be displayed in the Libraries too.

Assuming you have a separate folders for Filth and Films

Sorry miss read the question. Didn't realise you hadn't set up the locations and scrapper settings. Or optimize them to your liking.

Didn't want to post and run. My mistake.

Well I can't beleive how easy that was or why I didn't just think of the answer myself in the first place... I'm blaming the Man-Flu I currently have for clouding my mind!!!

You could use plex server on the NAS and the xbmc plex addon on the PI, thats what I do and then you can allocate the holiday videos to home movies which wont then be scanned.
