Still a Focus :(

Nice one Sherlock, and what do you drive? Ah yea, an old banger, sorry classic Ford :p

Focus is a better car than the Capri ever was, don't let the fact the Capri is RWD suddenly make you think it was a world beater..

Hey its image not the rwd part, I like having a rare car with a distinctive shape that draws more attention and probably cost 1/8th of that Focus.

Sure de-tango that focus and wheels but don’t expect anyone to bat an eyelid.

It's only rare and distinctive becuase most of them have been scrapped now, just like the Focus in 20 years time. It cost 1/8th of that Focus becuase that Focus is X reg and the Capri is age old.

Hey it could be X reg, well the other type of X reg.

In 20 years time do you really think the Foci will be desired?

The same was said about the Escorts and look at them now, but Im not sure that will happen with the euroblobs.

I have absolutely no idea, remember 10 years ago the Ford Capri was a horrid banger that everyone laughed at, now look at it.

Exactly, only time will tell. I dare say that when Escorts were new people went on and on about Zodiac's and how the Escort would never be a classic..

Fox this isnt about how good the cars are or are not, nothing to do with age or price either. The fact is that a focus is a mundane car which is very common and pretty uninspiring to look at, it is not cool. The capri however is cool, was in its day, and still is now, probably down to the looks.

And agent_smith, thats a wierd one, I wouldnt think that a focus would be desirable in 20 years at all, but then the mk1/2 escorts are desirable now and they are the equivalent from their time.

The Focus was far from mundane and unexciting to look at when it was launched in 1998. It looked like no other hatchback before it - it's visual impact was similar to that of the new Civic today - and nobody can say THAT looks mundane.

But as with anything good, everyone else copied the design cues and now, as you say, it's so common it can perhaps be considered mundane. But through no fault of its own.

I dare say that in 8 years time, the new Civic will be rather mundane as well.

And the Capri was cool when it came out, much like the Focus, but faded over time until it was eventually canned with no replacement.

Had the Nissan 300ZX, for example, sold in the numbers the Focus had, it too would be considered mundane becuase you'd see 30 every day and they'd no longer stand out. Would it make it a lesser car? Of course not..

people forget that there was 16" zetecs for some reason, a good upgrade :D
the focus arches eat wheels, they make anything look small for some reason, so good job on the lowering :]

looking good so far to me :]

loving the focus bashing :P what rubbish :D

LOL the Focus broke the mould of cars of that era that were designed with set angles and rulers. The Focus was a huge leap styling wise and it forced all the other manufacturers in the medium sized hatch market to play catch up. Then there was the class leading handling etc etc.

I really like whats been done to that Focus. Its one of those cars that doesn't stand up and say "I've been modded" yet its an improvement over the original. The kind of car you look at as an overall and think "that looks pretty smart" as opposed to "he's got a £1000 set of alloy wheels"

Definite improvement there, detangoing always makes a car look better. Why don't manufacturers do it as standard, surely it doesn't save them that much to put orange repeaters on instead of clear ones...

A definate improvement.

I couldn't care if the alloys look like thsoe from a lower spec car, they look much nicer and that's what should count.

Also thumbs up on the detangoing. Such a minot thing but makes the car look much less fussy at the front.

Thunmbs up from me.
