Hi guys,

my first build for general home use and some gaming.

the setup will include 2 screens, one for work and the other for watching movies.

let me know your thoughts. budget is around £1500 - is this too much?

happy to consider alternate parts.

Case: NZXT Phantom Black Full Tower Case
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme6 Intel Z677 (Socket 1155) DDR3
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40Ghz (Ivy Bridge) Socket LGA1155
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler
PSU: Cosair 850W AX850 Modular PSU
RAM: Cosair 8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz Dominator Memory
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 WINDFORCE 3X 2084MB GDRR5
SSD: Samsung 256Gb SSD 830 SATA 6Gb/s Basic

Please review and add prices from OCUK only

Any suggestions on what monitors I should be looking at???

Appreciate any advice

Gigabyte offer UK RMA service and is just as good if not better than the AsRock for cheaper (but check the Gigabyte offers ports and features).

Seasonic make excellent PSU'S and 750w will be ample for adding another card in the future and any overclocking.

thanks for the reply guys. bit confused now.. being a novice, its a bit difficult deciding what parts.

Based on the feedback so far, I've concluded on the following parts:

Case: NZXT Phantom Black Full Tower Case
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40Ghz (Ivy Bridge) Socket LGA1155
SSD: Samsung 250GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD250BW)

Any tips how to choose the other parts? I just want to ensure whatever I buy is future proof (as possibly can be).

As the system is mainly for general use and gaming then the motherboards specced are fine, they offer a few extra features than the cheaper boards and can do dual gpu's @ 8X and overclock the k series cpus without issue.

You need to check the ports, ie do you need esata or firewire connections?

Will you be needing or looking at upgrading to dual gpus in the future or you think you will stick with one more powerful card.

i will probably purchase another graphic card to be fair if i'm going to spend £300 odd now.

Though i'm not sure if I will ever need dual gpus considering its for general use and some gaming.

Are you sure you don't want a hdd? I think you will eventually find yourself limited with 250gb of storage. Personally I would go for a 120gb ssd and a 1 or 2 tb hdd. This way you can add media without the worry of running out of space. Having said that you can always buy one later on...

7970 is not worth the price its sold at.
By voltage beign locked, Is basiclly for better clocks your need to turn up the volts so the card gets more power.
