my first build for general home use and some gaming.

the setup will include 2 screens, one for work and the other for watching movies.

let me know your thoughts. budget is around £1500 - is this too much?

happy to consider alternate parts.

Gigabyte offer UK RMA service and is just as good if not better than the AsRock for cheaper (but check the Gigabyte offers ports and features).

Seasonic make excellent PSU'S and 750w will be ample for adding another card in the future and any overclocking.

thanks for the reply guys. bit confused now.. being a novice, its a bit difficult deciding what parts.

Based on the feedback so far, I've concluded on the following parts:

Any tips how to choose the other parts? I just want to ensure whatever I buy is future proof (as possibly can be).

As the system is mainly for general use and gaming then the motherboards specced are fine, they offer a few extra features than the cheaper boards and can do dual gpu's @ 8X and overclock the k series cpus without issue.

You need to check the ports, ie do you need esata or firewire connections?

I'm not going to need any firewire connections. All I use is eSata or USB.

Are you sure you don't want a hdd? I think you will eventually find yourself limited with 250gb of storage. Personally I would go for a 120gb ssd and a 1 or 2 tb hdd. This way you can add media without the worry of running out of space. Having said that you can always buy one later on...

Get this, sapphire has poor warranty and terriable sound coming from fans...

But dont get the 7970 Gigabyte because they are voltage locked...

7970 is not worth the price its sold at.
By voltage beign locked, Is basiclly for better clocks your need to turn up the volts so the card gets more power.
