Razer diamondback g3 for gaming, whats a gamers opinion of it

I would suggest turning sensitivity in game options for all your games down, then turning the sensitivity up on the mouse. The in game method is dodgy, as it has to kind of skip a pixel to speed your mouse up. So if you do it this way, you never "skip" a pixel, meaning you get smoother movements than most people (very noticeable while sniping long distances)

at last, do you know how many forums/posts i have read to find this little nugget. i would have asked but i didn't know how to word it.. i'd been using a standard mouse for ever and only bought a diamondback 2 weeks ago, but was well disapointed cos it diddent seem any more accurate than the last one. it seemed to move in big pixels making shooting anything not point blank near impossible, it almost got ebayed my. but now, my average kill rate on COD4 has more than doubled.

Claimed.

(hope the above wasn't a claim.)

I had to reluctantly adapt from a trusty MS Intellipoint (Ball) some 1.5 years ago. Took a while, but I now feel pretty confident with the Diamondback. Lower left-side button also turned out pretty useful for 'spawn menu' in BF2/ETQW/FFOW.

Also, dunno if it's me, but I replace the pads with teflon stickers every few months because the scratching irritates!

How do you replace the teflon? Is it easily available if so how much is it and also do they come precut per mouse or is it like a small sheet of it and u have to cut the shapes out urself and stick on?

i've owned..

boomslang 1000, 2000, 2100
viper
diamondback
deathadder

deathadder is by far the best imo

I used to buy something called 'mouse skatez' but since getting a BFG 8800 I had a bunch of pads included with it, which are pretty much the same thing, if a different shape.

Pretty simple procedure as you can see! Takes all feeling of friction away, but I seem to need 'repadding' every 2-3 months :)

Got the diamondback today, a few questions.

Did the cd that comes with it ever not work for you as it wouldnt work for me just messes stuff up so i had to dl the software from razers site.

What settings do i do in windows to get the razer performing as it should? These are what i have at the mo.

Also does anyone find the right side buttons a bit too much in the middle as i use my ring finger for the right side button and i feel the button is too low. Might disable em i duno.

The feeling of the mouse is a bit strange but i like it, its a lot more comfortable than my trust mouse i used and i like the lights on it :)

Already see a improvment in accuracy on desktop usage its hard to explain but i guess ppl will know what i mean. I like the large buttons and they feel so nice to use. The diamond backs side buttons i was worried about cos i kept lookin for 2 seperate buttons on each side but infact its 2 in 1 per side lol its weird but its nice.

The software is a bit pants, i cant see where a profile per game is to set up, does the other razers mice software work with this razer dm 3g so i can get the more options maybe the deathadders software as thats a 3g sensor mouse i think.

Edit - Also what settings is best for these screens cos im terrible with sensativity stuff. Can you share your settings so i can compare as well.

Also when im trying mohaa just now when i move the mouse a inch left it only turns roughly 90 degrees not 180 or 360, i turned the mouse settings ingame real low and turn off precision thing off as i think i was told to by someone near top of topic and use max sensativity through on the fly thing, but it just doesnt feel to turn round as much as i thought it would also its hard to move the mouse quick to a singular point as much as i used to with my old mouse i mean the DB is a bit faster with rotation but thats throwing my pin point accuracy off so im wondering for advice on this on how to get pixel perfect stops when ** turning so quick even when im moving mouse slow its hard to get it centered on something specific like a light or a corner of a box it seems to skip pixels. Im a noob i admit with this new mouse so help is needed to get me up and running the way it should be performing etc. Oh and the rest im playing at is 1280x1024 in mohaa and desktop as well. So if it was 1800dpi then surely a inch would mean the mouse arrow would go from one side of screen to other with a move of a inch but currently its only half the screen (left to right movement) with a inch movement.

Have the Razer Diamond Back 3g and a Razer mantis Speed mat and love the combination, took some getting user to the sensitivity but improved my game a load once I got the hang of it.

Perhaps you're setting the ingame sensitivity too low. I don't have mohaa so I can't give you any instructions. However this is my setup for CoD4:

Then I set my on the fly settings to 9. This is pretty fast, I can't really see how anyone would want it faster. Just in case though, I can whack it up to 10 for whatever reason (there will never be a reason, I just like it like that :p).

I have never messed with the actual windows settings, just installed the software and I was away. I had no issues with it. I don't have time to help with the rest of your post atm, but if no one else has by the time I get in the house later I'll give you a hand.

A little tip if the tray icon annoys you (there's no official option to hide/disable afaik) - kill razertra.exe process, then from the install folder rename it to _razertra.exe so it won't return after a reboot.

As far as I can tell, everything still functions as it should.

Well in mohaa if i set the slider for mouse to all the way to lowest the ingame movement is dog slow no matter if the mouse on the fly setting is 10. So i have to move it to about 10% to the right to even get it moving at a decent speed. Also on the fly pop up display messes up mohaa as in if i have gamme up a lot it resets it to normal (too dark for me to play) so i had to disable the pop up display ingame to get it working.

Also in mohaa the side buttons dont seem to be registered as keys ingame i mean i cant bind the side buttons to anything. Anyone got a work around apart from defining the keys in razer thing cos if i do that then windows usage for back and forward while browsing might be messed up.

Start > Run, msconfig > Startup tab, deselect entry, OK.

There was a particular reason for me renaming, but I can't remember it offhand.

May have been the control panel interface restarting the tray or putting it back in hkey_local_machine/.../run.
