RC Helicopters

Well, I've nearly repaired my big Neon Blaze, but I'm awaiting Phoenix before I mash it into the ground again and the local model shop are going to set it up for me this time rather than me following an online guide..

I think I'm going to get something like the Heliguy Atom FP. Align have just announced an updated Trex 100X which looks nice too..... :D

im scared :D

pretty much everything apart from the transmitter to build a 250GT heli for 108quid shipped :D

gotta buy
align feathering shaft (one in this kit is weak)
kevlar belt to drive the tail (one it the kid is known to fail)
thrust bearing lube
loctite
dx6i transmitter
carbon fibre main blades

and i think thats it :D

should be good for atleast a hundred flights before anything needs replacing acording to a thread i was reading, ill slowly replace any worn parts with genuine align ones, you can convert them to flybarless for around 80$ aswell :D

im going to spend a few days real time on the phoenix sim before i evne attempt to hover though :D even if i crash it who cares :D its only cost me roughly what a honey bee v2 would anyway

i was tempting to build the HK450 but where im going to fly i dont think is big enough and its only a few football pitchs in size and theres often a bunch of guys playing football at one end.
what im building, ill eventually get better servos and a better motor and esc aswell, but theres no point going all out right now when im going to be learning

still gotta buy it and a dx6i yet lol :D dont wanna give my missus a heart attack , so ill wait until the shock of my HK purchase has worn off :D

ill make out all the heli stuff cos 50 quid lol, "ive just got to get the transmitter now which is another fifty" :D

lol fair enough, thought you already had it.
my HK order took less than 2weeks to arrive.. amazing service.

get a futaba, you know it makes sense ;)

Our club's field is only 1x football pitch wide (the long side of a pitch) by 2x deep (short sides). People fly all sizes of helicopter there.

i can always build one at a later date if i really get into it.
nearest club to me sucks ass :P they must be mainly planes as it says on there crappy website which looks like it was made in the 90s that helicopters must "negotiate" flying spots (on the 1mil square town moor aswell... apprently only members of their club are allowed to use it because its not really the "town moor" its just called that and owned by the "freemen"
there doesnt seem to be much model flying action up north :(

i was looking at the clubs near my parents house in nottingham and just a 5mins walk away theres a club that uses one of the runways on an active rolls royce airfield!

check out some of the photos!

I've been toying with ordering the bits for a HK250, but am still deciding on that or the HK450. I'm just waiting for Phoenix to turn up then I can give it a go with both helis and get a feel for which one I like the best.

i was sitting with a tape measure thinking a 450 is huge lol
if you do go 250 and want teh ultimate power the scorpion 3900kv motor + castle creations phoenix 25amp esc is suposed to be the best combo for a 250 size heli.

that motors like 30 quid though and the cheapo motor it only 7, that esc is 25quid and the cheapo hobbyking one i bought it only like 5 quid.

the cheapos should be more than good enough for basic hovering and circles etc anyone wanting to do proper 3d flying they would need the better motor/esc , better servos that can withstand the thrashing 3d flying gives them and a more stable gyro that can hold the tail better

Well i'm mainly after something to just keep me on the sticks as i've got a sceadu evo 50 for 3d, but after a month of not using it the fingers get a bit forgetful, and I normally spend the first tank or two just getting back into habit and feel of it again. It flies so different to my Twister CP v2.

I worked out the 450 is similar price to the 250, but crashes could make the difference. I was looking at the 250 and upgrades that you suggested, just need to find the spare money!!

the spare parts for the 450 cost about the same money , you might need more expensive servos though and maybe a more expensive gyro, the motor and esc probably costs about the same as a 250 , the battery wont be much more money either.

HK450 Pro Fbl, Honeybee V2 and 3x CopterX 250s
love my 250s as you can fly anywhere but they do get small very quickly hard to see orientation

i didnt bother with any spares :D
anything that breaks or wears will get replaced with align parts or whatever is considered the best for the job.

the cyclic servos i chose arent supost to last crashs but for $1.99 i guess you cant complain :D (a lot of people seem to use them for general hovering and normal flying, 3d would probably kill them quick as they are only plastic geared)
so dont try anything like this with them
btw anyone whos ordering stuff from hobbykign make sure you use the buddyprice links on sites such as
http://hk-buddyprice.com/
i found almost everything on my list and saved about 15-20$ :) it all adds up lol.

you can tell if the buddyprice code is working because the price will have an asterisk on the end * and once the item is in your basket it should have swarm18198 etc in the items name

It's the same heli just with a different colour scheme.

I broke it already :(

Do you know where I can get spares? The Nine Eagle parts look slightly different, not sure they will fit.

Basically where there propeller goes on to the shaft its split the plastic, both bits, so I guess I need the shaft and the little round plastic thing that goes on top of it.
