Currently i use Microsofts Remote Desktop to control my pc remotely. Ive know about VNC for some time, but never really looked into it.

Is it worth trying VNC? or does it not provide much of a benifit over MS RDP?

thanks

I'm not sure what the state of the art is with VNC, but it used to be just a screen scraper iirc, and as such RDP is a more 'elegant' solution (if a little more restrictive).

IIRC remote desktop is encrypted also wheras VNC (free version) is not, id stick with remote desktop, make sure you have strong passwords with which ever you decide to use, if possible, restrict to certain IP addresses also :)

ok, think ill stick with RDP then.

Security is strong as my RDP port is blocked by NAT and a firewall. i create a PPTP VPN to my router using a strong password and then rdp in once connected. Think that should cover it
