Hey guys,

I've got an old Nvidia 8800GTS card and the temps are quite high 55c idle and about 65c Under load.

I was thinking if i took the stock cooler off and re-applied the thermal paste if it would do anything and if it was realitively easy to do ?

Thanks James

if you used decent paste (mx-3 etc) then you'd lose a few degrees, but your load temps are fine tbh.

it's easy enough to take off the cooler/put back on; just undo a few screws and slide it off :)

I have a 8800GT and re applied the thermal paste with MX-3, shaved about 4c off my idle temps and well it doesn't get to load all that high because it is used as a Physx card, but the 8800 lineups run hot anyway so don't expect a huge decrease, the best decrease would be through an aftermarket cooler.

There might not be much difference it just depends, but theres no harm in trying it, it can only benefit :)
