Re-enabling a Raid 0 Array on a new PC

Hey guys.

So i have 2 data drives (SSD) which have been ran in a RAID config (hardware raid not a windows raid) and would like to transfer this raid over to my new system.

Now a windows raid is pretty easy, you simply go into disk management and re-enable the raid.

How would I go about re-enabling a Raid 0 hardware config on a new system?

I don't believe there's an easy way to go from one computer to another using same raid config unless it's using the same controller

if its the same controller you may be ok, But tbh as far as i know it will wipe it as soon as you enable a new raid on a new pc... You should have backed it up before changing set ups.

I was afraid of that - I have 2TB total HDD space and they are almost full - unfortunatley I don't have any other 2TB HDD to backup to.

If you have 2tb of data on a raid 0 which you haven't backed up, you're living on borrowed time. You probably know this.

You may be able to transfer it to the new computer. What do you mean by hardware raid? If you have it on a PCI-E card, then transfer the card and the drives together and you *should* be OK.

If you mean the built-into-motherboard thing, I'll be rather surprised if it transfers across. There's some chance if it's the same chipset on both boards.

Not something I would attempt without a backup in either case however.

Normally if the raid card is made by the same manufacturer they keep the same types of striping technology so that putting a new card into your mobo may work (some success stories around) but putting two drives in a new comp will erase all data unfortunately.

Won't erase it until you select to format for a new RAID surely
