Re-furbing my trim..

Do a search on 205 GTI Drivers for the posts on this topic by Paintguy. He is a professional sprayer and he used the Halfords stuff for the trim on his topaz. Don't rub it all down you will lose the textured finish and it will take forever. Last time I keyed plastic trim I used wire wool and thinner to remove any old polish/wax etc.

funnily enough, I've just spotted a thread on there that was brought up from a while ago on this topic.

Seems that all I need to do is wash the trim down, wipe it down with white spirit, then spray with vinyl paint

edit: I'm assuming to spray metal you just rub it down, then spray?

What metal are you painting? The inserts? I keyed mine with some fine grade Wet n Dry used wet. Then primed, and given a couple of coats of Toyota Super Red II. After that I gave it a few coats of lacquer because otherwise if you use black trim wax on the arches etc later it stains the red instead of wiping off easily.
