Hi,

Curently running 10.5 on my iMac and want to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard. I want to upgrade for performace and so that I can install Windows 7 via Boot Camp (10.6 required).

I have been experiencing some problems for the last few months, the biggest being when I log off, I go back to the Universe/Space backdrop but the login window never appears, forcing me to turn the mac of at the switch to log in again!

I would therefore like to do as fresh an install as possible, but haven't done anything like this before and wondered if anyone can help / advise on the steps to take?

Do I do a fresh install using my 10.5 disk, do all the updates and then put in the 10.6 disk? Or does the 10.6 disk contain everything I need?

Apparently there are also re-install options, depending on whether I want to retain my settings etc. I am not bothered by most things, but would like to keep my iPhoto, iDVD and iMovie settings / files.

Any tips / advice appreciated!

Cheers
