Re-Installing XP

Bit of a basic question, but I trust you guys and I'm looking for a solid answer on this one.

I'm thinking of doing a bit of spring cleaning, and might re-install XP. When one re-installs XP, is the registry cleared at the same time? I ask because I think it's getting a little clogged, and rather than use CCleaner or something, I thought I might just a well re-install XP.

Any advice or best practice would be most welcome.

Sorry, as it was a question regarding clearing the hard disk and installing XP, I was caught between 2 forums!

Might be a nice title for a song...'Caught Between 2 Forums"!!!!!!
