Re-mapping a 206

Ok thinking having my engine tuned, does anybody know whether it will be worthwhile performance wise and will there be any insurance implications?

There is very little to be had from the 1.4 unless you spend big £££ on internals or forced induction and overall it is pretty pointless. A remap alone will not see any feasable gain if at all possible.
 
Plenty of bits and bobs go 2nd hand on www.206info.co.uk. You might be able to get the GTi interior or other bits if you want to improve things.

No harm in getting induction kits, exhausts and if you want to improve sound or looks but you will need to declare to insurance. Many mainstream companies won't take performance mods will you're 25 so I'd qualify anything with them first.
 
Waste of time for the small power gains i'd expect from that. And any remap is going to put more strain on the car.
You don't really need to declare, how are they going to proove it was remapped? I shouldn't think they'll check the ECU if you have a crash.
 
there are 2 issues here

1) buying a remap for a 1.4 peugeot 206

This is pointless. remaps work best on turbocharged cars. Remaps on N/A cars gain very little, especially small ones. Save your cash

2) modifying your 1.4 peugeot 206.

You can buy bits to imrpove power, such as induction kits, exhausts, cams etc.. and by all means do this, but dont expect big power gains. You will be doing minor fettling rather than actually making it significantly faster.

Dont get too carried away, as you never get any of the money you spend on mods back.

Not strictly true that, turbo cars seem to respond better as you can do more, like adding more boost, N/A remaps tend to gain less because there are only fixed things that you are going to change, cams, compression etc

Any engine that has had significant changes needs a remap, to make it safe and maximise the potential of the new parts etc

But like everyone says, don't waste your time remapping your 1.4
 
i was referring to a remap in isolation, on stock hardware

rather than as way to adjust the cars ECU to new modifications.

Prime case in point:

e90 m3 remap - +12/15bhp
e90 335i remap +60/70 bhp
 
Id say due to your engine a remap on a 1.4 would be not worthwhile, however if on any specific 206 forums there may be people who write maps, instead of paying the 400 odd from a shop to install, for example i can get my 306 from 90 to 120bhp or 155 bhp ( est ) for 95 pounds, they use the forum for business and they are actually better maps than the expensive ones, just dont go near anything on the bay for maps.
