Over the last few weeks I've been rewatching Breaking Bad from the beginning. When I first discovered it, I think the fourth series had already started and I effectively binge watched the first three very quickly.

I'd forgotten what a fantastic show it is. The acting is superb and the way everything is just weaved together is really quite incredible. The cinematography and the overall feel of the program is blowing me away. I'm seeing things that I missed the first time round, simply because I was steaming through the episodes one after another. This time round, I'm taking my time and enjoying every episode fully - I'm only up to the start of the third series and am looking forward to going all the way through them again over the next couple of months. I won't rush them.

This really has to rate up there among the top TV ever made, surely? I know I thought it was good at the time but it's even better on a second viewing after a number of years.

I did the same and binged the first few seasons in a short space of time as I found it quite late on. I don't know if that added to the enjoyment, but I much preferred the earlier seasons especially the relationship between Jesse and Walter and felt like the show lost some of its magic when that was gone. I think i'll probably wait a good few years and hope I have forgotten enough of it to make it feel like watching it fresh again, or as close to that as possible.

I only recently started watching it and binged to season 3 and got bored. Not touched it since, maybe one day. Skylar is the most annoying hypocritical piece of work I've ever seen on TV.

It is way overhyped though imo, there is a Family Guy episode mocking how much it's hyped which was quite funny.

That's the problem with binge watching anything - It's easy to get bored when you're just watching the same show one episode after another. I did the same with the Sopranos and got to part way through the fifth series before I just stopped watching it, I simply couldn't be bothered.

I tried rewatching Breaking Bad about 2 years ago and instantly hated Skyler due to already knowing her character. I will re attempt at some point though as I did love the show.

Just finished my 2nd round too, this time we have a much better TV and was streamed in HD rather than 720p so was a huge step up.

Our new sub got a horrendous workout in the final episode!

I always thought they could have made it shorter. It defiantly is 'over hyped' though. It's good, don't get me wrong, but when it aired people were acting like it was the best thing ever. It's really not. It's a solid 8/10 for me.

The Wire is my favorite long running TV series. Complete masterclass. Only beaten by Band of Brothers which is a solid 11/10..

House of Cards (1st watch) is shaping up to be a 9/10. Bit long winded at times, but a what a show!

I'm 3 episodes into S1 & TBQH struggling...

Just not grabbing me as a must watch, rather feels like something to keep running in the background.

I agree how awful Skylar is as a character, I have the same hatred for Carmela Soprano!

Was reading down and about to post the same thing.

Binge watching sopranos doesn't work either because it's such a dull format if you are crashing through it. I'd have enjoyed it more once per week.

Would watching an episode a day be too much? The Sopranos is on my to do list because of how well regarded it is and perhaps not something I'd have considered if not for the glowing reviews.

As for Breaking Bad, I made my mum sit down and watch it (she binged it) and as someone who usually hates US TV she kept asking me every day "Are you SURE there aren't any British script writers on this??" I take that as very high praise indeed!

I'd say an episode a day wouldn't be too bad. Binge watching I just found it so obvious season 1 hate family member x season 2 family member y and so on, hard to elaborate without spoilers.

If it's a older show I'll do 1 or 2 episodes a day if I get time, sitting there and trying to binge 50 + episodes would be too much for most people without having breaks every few days. I'm getting to the stage where I can't binge 10 episodes on Netflix anymore without getting bored no matter if the show is great or not.

I'm ashamed to admit this but whenever I watch video I generally do so at 1.1x or 1.2x speeds to cram more story into less time.....

Which episode are you on? Not to be a downer, but I'm halfway through s3 and it seems to be losing steam for me. It's not a patch on BB IMO.
