Reverse Engineer Anything.

This is taking off big time. It's a movement that uses AI to hack anything and strip out ads and other nonsense.

I've been looking for side projects now that it's too cold and grim to work on bikes, I think I just found it.

The potential here is insane, I'll be following this very closely as the big corps will not take this lying down.

Whatcha fink GD? Time to take back control?

Can I REA the video to know what it's talking about without having to watch it?

It's just examples of what can be done. Basically hacking anything with a few AI prompts and getting shot of anything you don't want.

My personal favourite is a TV that will automatically overwrite any ads with a black screen that just says "commercial break" when ads start playing.

This is definitely something I'll be supporting. As someone who already pays £lol to streaming services, only to get force-fed ads unless I give them even more money, I will actively pay for services to block their greedy practices.

Not actually reverse engineered anything yet but have been looking to use Claude to help upgrade an old electronic drum kit. The module (or brain) is archaic - and I’m sure I could slap in an arduino with some much better drum samples and give the kit a new lease of life.

My lg tv is full of ads and I hate it. And settings that you can’t get to without a technicians remote. Might have a look to see if it’s been jailbroken.

Related, 1st point he makes is worthwhile, if you don't know what the AI is doing and you don't understand it, you can easily brick your tech, 2nd Claude already has child locks for this so don't waste your money, better spend with Chinese model or run Qwen local to do it

REA usually typed in capitals mean SALE in Swedish so I was wondering what was going cheap :p

Still, yes, I've seen guys reverse engineering a lot of classic games to keep them alive and move them to other hardware platforms.

I've been tempted to give this a try myself. I recently had to buy a new dishwasher because the previous one's pump died. Bought what I thought was a decent enough replacement, but it wasn't until I installed it that I realised half the functions on it can only be done via an app, the main annoyance being setting a scheduled start time. And it's not even a first party app from Beko - it's some god awful dog **** made by a contractor for their parent company. It's slow as hell, half the time it doesn't save settings, and to make it worse you actually have to press a 'remote control' button on the dishwasher for the app to talk to it, so what's the ******* point!?

I'd build my own bloody app to control it without half of that bs.

I want to do this but not found anything yet, or want to pay for a sub to AI services.

In the past few years I have avoided buying anything too smart whenever possible. Like the rice cooker, I could have got a model with an app and wifi, which was weirdly cheaper but opted not to.
