Does this mean we'll see less smart products on the shelves? Which would be a good thing if products weren't made of cheese
And in a few years the app will no longer be supported and when you update your phone the old app won't work. So you'll need to throw away a completely working dishwasher and buy a new one.I've been tempted to give this a try myself. I recently had to buy a new dishwasher because the previous one's pump died. Bought what I thought was a decent enough replacement, but it wasn't until I installed it that I realised half the functions on it can only be done via an app, the main annoyance being setting a scheduled start time. And it's not even a first party app from Beko - it's some god awful dog **** made by a contractor for their parent company. It's slow as hell, half the time it doesn't save settings, and to make it worse you actually have to press a 'remote control' button on the dishwasher for the app to talk to it, so what's the ******* point!?
I'd build my own bloody app to control it without half of that bs.
Haven't Claude blocked this? Probably see if a local model can do it, if not I reckon within the year there'll be something you can get locally which can do all this. Not actually reverse engineered anything yet but have been looking to use Claude to help upgrade an old electronic drum kit.
Yes but if you know what you're doing you can work around it, otherwise just Deepseek or other Chinese model without safety locks or run Qwen local as I posted earlierHaven't Claude blocked this? No, that runs from just south of Denbigh centre to Llyn Brenig, awesome 7 mile segment. This is the road to hell.

This is genius, i cant stand ads and always change channel or mute the tv when ads are on. Tbh though i hardly watch tv nowadays, i sometimes have it on just for the sake of it, its on now, its those jedward clowns talking about god knows what, peak tv.It's just examples of what can be done. Basically hacking anything with a few AI prompts and getting shot of anything you don't want.
My personal favourite is a TV that will automatically overwrite any ads with a black screen that just says "commercial break" when ads start playing.
Agreed, am sure there is loads of discontinued software which people out there use but have no way of updating or fixing. This opens up all sorts of possibilities. Also like you say some companies will block certain features and this opens up all sorts of possibilities. Even removing spyware/backdoors from certain products would be possible with this.Having seen what people are doing with this sort of technology is amazing. My favourite thing to see is samrt tech that's locked down to a cloud service, suddenly being made local only with full control.

This is definitely something I'll be supporting. As someone who already pays £lol to streaming services, only to get force-fed ads unless I give them even more money, I will actively pay for services to block their greedy practices.
