Went through a whole magazine in about 2 hours.. November 08's copy of "Photography Monthly" a great read and im going to buy another tomorrow and if i like it im going to get a subscription to them. Ive also got another magazine, cant remember the name, a guy at work said it was good and when i went to my second work this evening she had brought that one in! So muct be quite popular but its upstairs and i cant remember the name or be bothered to move.

So im going to attempt the B setting thing that ive read in this magazine, looks like a really good thing to learn but what do you lot think? Is it an option on the lowerend Nikon/Canon cameras?

Also, whats a close up lens attachment? I dont understand this at all. Something to attach to the lens i assume? But why, cant you just get a lens that does it?

Help :) Its driving me crazy having to wait for the money to clear in my bank, im desperate to have this camera now, i really really want it, more than ever, especially bcause of the help im due to recieve and the magazines that ive read, off to buy another magazine tomorrow on my dinner at college, cant wait at all now, going to pop into WHSmiths and have a gander.

James.

Im guessing the 'B' setting you are refering to is 'Bulb' mode. This is an extension to shutter speed, whereby the shutter opens for as long as the shutter release is held down (and why a remote shutter with a lock feature is usefull). As most cameras only have a 30 second shutter, the bulb mode allows you to take a 20 minute exposure for example.

A closeup attachment is just that. It's a filter attachment that allows the lens to focus closer. Think of it as a macro filter. You can get lenses that do the same... Macro lenses, but they often cost a lot more.

Well cleared up!

Thanks, sometimes i like someone to explain something ive rad just to imbed it in my head and to make sure im right in what im thinking..

Everything youve said is exactly how i see it.

& yes the B mode was the "bulb" setting.

Cheers,

James.

well i should be able to let you know about the close up/macro attachments soon as i have just bought a set, will post some pics too if theyre anygood, should be fun using them.

to get into bulb mode on canons, you have to go into manual setting and scroll the exposure length to max which then goes to bulb.

close up attachment allows you to convert a normal lens into a macro lens so you can focus on objects closer up, reducing the minimal focus distance.
