Hi - looking for some advice on a dodgy HDD.
My Hitachi 1TB HDD is playing up. It's just a storage drive for Steam/Origin/Media as I have Windows and all other programs on an SSD. It's 3 years old
If I try to download anything on Steam or Origin the programs crash and report write errors. I've done a full error check, ran IO and sector checks on HD Tune and ran Hitachi's diagnostic tool and all have reported no issues.
Copied a 800MB film from my server and that copied over and played without issue.
Late last night after tearing my hair out for hours I formatted this drive and installed Steam on the SSD. As soon as I tried to download a game to this HDD though, the errors came up again.
Is it just knackered? Virus? Motherboard IO?
