Do you think reading speed matters much?

Definitely not for a book. Surely with a book it's more important to enjoy it than be able to read it faster than others.

I read at the speed I speak. I speak it in my head and reading any faster seems like I am talking to fast or skimming. I like to read slowly and absorb the imagination. It said it would take me 668 days to get through GOT, which isn't true because I did it in less than a year.

i actually finished got in 7 days on a beach holiday (i get addicted to reading when relaxing) kindles really are a life saver i used to spend hours on holidays trying to find more books :D

Jesus, I've always considered myself a fast reader, I'm always at the end of a newspaper article before anybody else I've ever met etc - but I clock up just under 300 wpm.

How do you read at 664wpm?!

When I read books I tend to read slower as I like to lose myself in the book and picture what's going on and actually enjoy it. News articles I skim read, but reports at work and so on I tend to do something between both.

This test isn't very accurate as it is a short passage that you can put into short term memory just to remember the key facts. As such my results are incorrect.

I believe that my reading speed is at least 1/2 as quick as this. So around 260 wpm at the most - as I said, I enjoy absorbing a book and getting lost in it rather than just getting through it.
