Reading

For a good book I never remember the words, only the 'film' as you describe it. It's basically the main way I know if it's a good book or not.

I suppose to an extent I play it in my head as a film but it tends to be for only certain parts rather than for the whole thing. It might be more accurate to say that I tend to develop an image of particular characters in my mind (maybe like a composite sketch for identification purposes) than to imagine them acting out the story. I don't know if that says anything much about how smart or otherwise my brain is but that's the way it normally works for me.

Does anyone see it the other way round? I'm just reading a Tom Clancy with Jack Ryan in and I can't help but see him as Harrison Ford.

I find its too much effort to try and force a mind movie of the story as you read it, its also distracting because its a lot for your brain to do.

I start reading by focusing on the words and sentences and getting a feel the meaning of each sentence. Then after a few lines you get into a flow and a kind of visualisation of the scene comes naturally without having to force it. Its a quicker way of reading and you comprehend a lot more of the story I find.

Glad you wrote it first as it saves me trying to put it into words, I do this with characters they seem to have an image as I read about them & also some locations come into view but I don't have a film running in my head.

Not Beardy Ben Afflick then, lol.

I see the games of thrones cast in the future boosk pretty much as they are on TV. Tyrionand Arya especially, I doubt anyone could be portrayed any better than he and Arya are.
