Ready made kit or make up one from bits? (watercooling)

Bit of a noob at the water cooling game (ok, complete noob then...)
So am having a bit of advise from here and there

Two choices pretty much stand out.
One is to make up a kit from "bits" ala..

Or just get a kit and be done with it.?

Not too fussed about cost, just want a reliable, efficient well built bunch of bits really.

Definately make one up. That way you can get the best of each component.

as said, make up your own. kits that are put together already are generally pretty bad compared to custom.

although that is pretty much the extent of my knowledge of water cooling systems, so I don't know how good either of the two setups you have chosen are.

I heard that swiftech kit is actually made up of quality components and is pretty good.

looking at the kit you've put together as custom it looks similar to those that OCuk are putting in thier ready made water cooled system's if that help's your decision

I'd go with the custom kit you spec'ed, I've been testing a kit nearly the same as thay ( different CPU block ) It would keep at Q6600 @4ghz running 1.55v :eek:

at around 66c - 68c under full load. I was pretty impressed at the heat that little rad could take out of the loop. Also using the quad nozzle plate for the V2 Fusion should drop temps even more. If you have a quad core chip that is

Although contrary to what has been said, the Swiftech Ultra kit is pretty high end and within a couple of degrees of the best put together your kit stuff - google reviews.

The only "weak" item is the cpu block but only where quads are concerned and by weak I mean a couple of degrees. The rad is generally considered to be the 2nd best radiator you can buy and the pump is one of the best.

Plus all complete in one easy kit. It is certainly better overall than the put together one you showed (although more money).

I have the swiftech kit (put together I might add) with the exception of the cpu block which is a danger den.

Keeping my q6600 at 60 degrees at 3.6Ghz with total silence to boot. Chuffed to bits really since I only spent £90 on 2nd hand bits.
