Is flash memory quicker than ram?

Flash memory is very slow compared to hard drives and incredibly slow compared to ram in terms of transfer rates.

In terms of access times, it is better than a hd but again much worse than ram, the best ram avalible has access times of under 1 nanosecond.

right what does vlite actually do and what are the advantages and disadvantages, basically it just removes stuff from vista right? why would you want to do that?

It removes all the languages you don't want which reduces the install by hundreds of mb, it then removes crap like drivers for devices you'll never use or will install from the cd's, it then removes more crap like the windows tour which in xp was over 40mb! It gets rid of services and features you don't want like obscure ones designed for servers, or you can choose to remove stuff like the media centre if your using your pc for normal desktop purposes.

Then you can add drivers to the install, add hotfixes and service packs tweak the registry to improve performance etc.

Did it actually boot?

More to the point, did it support anything or have any features?

It had all the functionality of xp, with some extra vista stuff I think. Xp pro can be shrunk down to under 300MB after all.
