Real quick question regarding basic video card

I have just built a media PC, it has no video card. The CPU is a i3-4130. My son has already started asking if he can play some of his games on it and I have thought to myself maybe a basic card would let him play games like Sonic Generations and possibly it would lighten the load when watching Blu-rays.

So my question is, would something like an Nvidia 630 be much better than the onboard I am using now? I have tried using google but can't seem to find much on the graphics capability of the i3-4130.

My friend has just asked me the exact same thing...

first off whats you budget? secondly what case are you using and will it take a full height graphics card or half height?

a dedicated card will deffo be better than the inbuilt Intel gfx.. I have that cpu in my media centre and really it would not play that much... I have now added an ATI card which runs better for both video and games but only at low res.

you would be better off going for a 640/650 (384 shaders) against a 630 (48 shaders) if you can squeeze one in or an AMD 7770.

Get a HD7750 GDDR5 1GB.

If you don't mind 2nd hand and your PSU is up to the job, try getting a 2nd hand HD7850 2GB at around £70+ which would be about 2.5 times the speed of the HD7750.

The difference of having a HD7750 vs HD7850 performance wise is probably like having a PS3 vs PS4 lol
