Real temp or core temp ?

Real Temp is supposed to be closer to the real temp.

But most people still use Core Temp and thus it's easier to compare your temps with others.

Okay, this just doesn't make sense atm im running a B3 q6600 @3.10ghz and a little bit higher than stock volts being cooled by a apogee gt block and im getting around 50c on all of the cores on Coretemp and yet Realtemp report temps of around 40c at idle.

Thats even after multiple remounts/ different layouts so should i still trust coretemp readings even if Realtemp temps seem more likely to be correct considering its under water ?

There is usually a 10c difference between Real Temp and Core Temp. They use a different T-Junction setting, with Real Temps being roughly 10c less than Core Temps.

50c sounds a little high, but then it is a B3 running with a Apogee GT. The B3's tend to run hot, and the GT isn't really designed for quads. They're not really a great combination tbh.

I was wondering this too as I was running small ffts on my new build (see sig) cooled with a TRUE and outside the case, realtemp was reporting 40c and Coretemp 50c. Not that 50c is unreasonable but my CPU is only at 3.2GHz, with the vcore set at 1.225v & the cooler is still cool to the touch so I'm inclined to believe realtemp but I'm still uncertain

Fair deal, what cpu block do you recommend?,will it fit a Gigabyte p35_DQ6 mobo nice and snug ?
Is it worth ditching my b3 for a GO is it worth the trouble just for less temps ?

A D-Tek Fuzion v2 or an EK Supreme would be the best bet for a quad.

Selling your B3 and getting a second-hand G0 would probably cost you £20 at the very most on a certain auction site. Probably a bit less. Is it worth the hassle? Probably not, unless you're planning on clocking them as far as you can.

Are my current B3 q6600 temps something to worry about will it shorten the life span of it that much by idling around 50c for 10 hours a day on average ?
