Real Time Overhaul

Chose this Asus 670 as it's one of the quietest...

The Seasonic's fan is inactive if the load is under 30% so that's one less fan to put up with...

Oh I went for the 3770K because I won't be upgrading for some time as you can tell from how long I've had a 4400+. Because I didn't have a budget, I'd figured I go for the 3770K for overclocking and its hyperthreading. Those extra cores may be useful in the future.

Liking the write up so far and nice selection of components. Good luck with the build!
Thanks! Nervous about pressing that power button when the time comes. :o It's been like 7 years since my last build.

Reusing my old X-Fi Platinum. I cleaned the back of the PCB because it was dusty as, by rolling blue tac over it. Anyone else do this? Works great though.

:D

Motherboard doesn't have an IDE socket for my DVD drive. Think I've got a IDE to SATA converter somewhere...

Agreed guys, and plus IDE cable is ugly and difficult to manage so just got back having bought a Pioneer BDR-207DBK :D

OK, time to configure BIOS and then install Win 7.

Love the case, i have the newer A70F model. In some ways it's a bit of a step back in design features. Namely the extra fans on the A70's hdd cage. Theese are removed on the A70F. Fantastic space in both though. Very nice build.:)

ensure you set it to ahci in the bios, i forgot to do this first time and it really impacts performance of sata drives.
Cheers, good point. enables trim. :)

In terms of the 840 Pro, this was selected as it's one of the fastest SSDs out at the moment. The C300 I will use for my laptop...

Thanks, Yep, very spacious and good build quality. Can I have your right side case panel? :p:p:p

Unfortunately mate, mine is scratched as well. Gonna have to import one. I dont currently use the A70F as im waiting until i can afford to get the internals powdercoated. Using a bitfenix shinobi xl case at the moment, not bad but nowhere near the quality of the Lian Li.

That Shinobi looks good Matt effect too so doesn't scratch as easily. Do like cases that look similar to the Coolermaster 110 from years ago.

Downloading and installing latest drivers/service pack etc...

Then onto some gaming, benchmarking and overclocking :D

If all is stable then remaining hard drives will be installed and cable tidy.

RMA TIME ALREADY! Seasonic popped with a flash earlier on this afternoon. Luckily it's not taken out the rest of my components. Tried paperclip and it's not starting and I'm now running the system with a Tagan PSU.

Computer was just sat idling in Windows and had been for about half an hour and then the Seasonic went.
