hey guys,

im buying a new monitor in a couple of weeks then building a new system after.

i only use my PC for gaming and general use.
i want a 120/44hz monitor but can decide if i want 24" or 27"

have any of you guys got a picture of a 24" and a 27" next each?

whats the best monitor in the 24" and 27" range

my max budget is £400

cheers guys

Hmm, I would always go with bigger.

I'm currently using 3 24"s on each side of the 46" HDTV but when I can I want to buy two more HDTV's.

being a former 120hz 23,9 inch monitor owner i can say that im never going back to that size. My current 27" inch Samsung is perfect(also 120hz). More than enough screen without being to big. Entertainment is suppose to be enjoyed on proper real estate and IMHO anything lower than 26" just doesn't cut it anymore. But to each his own :)

24" is kinda the sweet spot for gaming, any bigger and you practically gotta turn your head to see the corners xD

I just got a 27" which is great but probably a little overkill. It's useful for watching movies / playing consoles from further back though.

I was in the same position a few weeks ago, I was going to go for the 27" but opted for a 24" instead, im glad I did because its a perfect size, I think you are sitting so close the the monitor that any bigger would be too much.

I went for this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-070-BQ&groupid=17&catid=510

144Hz, brilliant for fps.

I think I will probably go for a cheaper http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-061-BQ&groupid=17&catid=510 as well to sit along side for surfing whilst gaming.

24 is about the right size if your doing work on it. for gaming maybe bigger. had a 27" once sold it was just to big to see everything on screen at the same time.

still waiting on 2 decent 24" screens, as of yet not seen any that are just what i need. shame :(

Go with the 27 incher. If it too big for your setup you can always adjust the distance between you and the monitor. If you get the 24 incher and it's too small you are stuck with it.
Besides- the additional resolution on the 27 incher is priceless.
For 400.00 you get either DGM or Hazro or something similar. I would wait for a nice sale though (like the recent save 7.5% on Overclockers) and go with something a little more expensive. That way you get more connectors on the back.

I'd go 24 forever. As a hardcore gamer at FPS titles, anything bigger requires a bit of that extra eye movement (hard to describe, kind of like a head turn but not really...) which will put you off. 27" at 1080p is horrible to me as well

would go for 27" used to think that was too big but the last one i had a rather large clunky bezel got a new one now with a really thin bezel and it looks the perfect size now nearly went for a 24 inch model but glad i went for the larger screen
