***Admin could you please delete my 2 previous threads in general hardware because I have been giving the wrong information - my apologies***

SO basically my computer is screwed up and i believe the route of the problem is the motherboard having had problems in the past with it. I tried to overclock it (bare in mind I had comfortably hit 3.6ghz on this rig in the past) because I recently formatted and since have only been able to boot up if I clear the cmos. Now it will turn on 1/20 times from pressing the power button after clearing the cmos.

I have since bought and new battery which made no difference what so ever.

My plan was to flash the bios/cmos but when I make the changes in bios for boot priority to boot from USB in order to get my p.c to turn on again I have to clear the cmos thus changing the order of boot devices. This in turn means I have no clue what to do.

Am i missing anything obvious?

My other plan is to get a new motherboard, however I cannot format my hardrive because I cannot boot from DVD - again very annoying.

Please help me. I have googled everything regarding cmos/flashing/bios and nothing has worked.

My set up is an Abit IP35 Pro motherboard, GelL ultra low latency ram (4 x 1GB) and an intel Q6600.

It has to be the motherboard because my computer is working now but its very annoying having to spend 20 minutes trying to turn it on. I also want to clock this rude boy again :D.

I had problems in the past because I forgot to use the studs on the motherboard when installing it into a new case - stupid I know but i was tired. I somehow got it working.

Thank you

Your windows install would still work with a new board so you could worry about the OS re-install after you get hardware put together.

o right thought it might conflict being a different motherboard when i loaded up but aslong as i go straight to bios and boot from the cd it should be ok
