Had me ps3 two years and can count on one hand how many times I have played games on it!

I got a BF:BD2 beta key last night and have been playing it all afternoon. The graphics aren't a patch on my PC but I don't really care to much.

The only annoyance is the controller, I have got used to the controller itself this afternoon but having to ram the stick down to get me soldier to run has really hurt me hand.

I had an xbox 360 in 2006 and that controller seemd good from memory. What 3rd party ps3 controller do people use?

Anyone elses thumb hurts?

Now to digout my bluetooth mic :)

I just use the official one. One word of warning about 3rd party controllers is that they usually take batteries and require an ugly dongle to be plugged into the PS3 to use them.

Do you get any thumb pains?

Maybe its because I press the stick down hard to get my soldier to run. Will have another go tonight.

Not bashing the ps3 here so dont attack me. I tried my mates the other day and was shocked by how much worse the controller is than the xbox. I really think theres a significant difference.

Yeah the ps3 controller is awful. I don't get along with it at all. I was playing the Ninja Gaiden 2 sigma or whatever its called demo recently and the controller felt like it was going to break apart in my hands. The whole thing just doesn't fit well in my hands.

Depends on what you're playing, the DPad on the 360 pads isn't as good for SF4 for example for me but the PS3 controller is 'OK'.

whats the solution?

keep my ps3 has a glorified blu-ray player and buy an xbox? but then i gotta spend £30 a year for online and deal with the red ring of death

Wow £30 a year, hardly a lot is it, its 57p a week. Get a new console and just forget about the RROD, its rare now and also covered for 3 years.

why dont you just not press it in so hard :/

or on the full game you will be able to change buttons

in months and months of BF1943 i never once had a problem pressing in the stick to run :S . im guessing its the same method to run on the 360 anwyway ?
the controller felt like it was going to break apart in my hands.

wonder what made you think that ? because mines never flexed , creaked etc. its even been bounced of the floor in disgust a few too many times and no problems

Well £30 is a game, and online is free on ps3.

I seem to have to press it in hard to get it to work. The whole stick thing on the ps3 controller is actually making my left hand hurt all over now.

I dugout my old PC wired 360 controller and it feels 10x better, I can press the stick in gently and it feels a lot better.

gah I dunno, cant afford £200 for a console atm.

Since you already have one for around £50 you could try the Cross Battle Adapter 2.0 which allows you to use a wired 360 pad on the PS3.

there no option to switch the run button for something else ? sure there is on the other BF games

but im sure it shouldnt be so hard to press in anyway. id check theres no muck or something in there. mine seem to press in very very easy. although admittedly its had 2 years of solid use

yeh sprinting sorry!!

I think its the play on the stick, the xbox 360 seems to have a better centre of gravity, so you dont have to fully lean your thumb over to run. Hard to explain....

360 pad just seems a lot better for me, yet I have a ps3 :p

rofl just realised that you only need to press the stick in once for him to sprint. I have been holding the stick in while sprinting lol.

It's better, but still not to keen on this controller.

same here, the ps3 controler just feels to uncomfortable to me compated to the ps3. The 360 feels like it sits more naturally in your hands (if that makes any sense).

Im getting a PS3 sometime next year - when im prob going to have to do one of them controller mods to put a ps3 controller in a 360 controller shell.

Shame there isnt a 3rd party controller shaped like the 360 one for the ps3 (and a ps3 shaped controller for for the 360 for people who will feel the other way)

only + on a ps3 controller is it is light a lot lighter than 360 one that might be due to the inbuilt battery pack.
Although it could also mean that once the battery has been recharged so so many times it will eventually die
and you either have to buy a new controller or somehow replace the internal battery?

Either way my vote goes to 360 cuz of the placement of the sticks and the sticks are curved inside and at a
lower height which makes it more ergonomic.
They should've reinvented the ps3 controller instead of using the same old layout since ps1 days.
