really need some help well i'm on a budget so i'm going for the following setup but my main pc will be behind the lcd so my aim is to buy a blu-ray player for the pc.

my video card is a ATI4870 1gb (was thinking of getting a dvi to hdmi cable)

and

should this work lol as never had HD

I can't see why it shouldn't work.

I'd link from the manufacturers not the retailer as well as it may be considered a competitor.

let me get this right dual dvi one going to my pc monitor and the other with a dvi-hdmi cable going to the 42"

on my main pc there will be a blu-ray player and also i can feed divx to the 42" how does the sound work lol does my pc's sound card handle this?

sorry as picking this up next week i'm starting to worry lol

sound is doable over hdmi (hopefully the ATIs support it)

You should be able to get stereo sound from the TV,

If you have a AV amp, then digital to there would give 5.1

sid

so the 5.1 cinema thing i'm getting won't really work with streamed content sorry i have not got a clue about this sort of thing

Well I have the system in now and it's fantastic but do have some questions lol

I have a ati4870 one dvi socket is going to my pc display an LG with a resolution of 1680x1050

second dvi is using the hdmi converter to the 42" lcd resolution 1920x1080

noe i have tried the cloning feature which tbh works the best apart from when i'm on the 42" and hover over the ati icon it states 1680x1050 which lol is not what i really want.

the extend works and i can state 1920x1080 for the 42" ect but it's a pain to switch between 42" and my standard desktop

i'm looking for a better solution so i can use the pc as normal and the 42" for streaming (htpc) not at the same time ofc :P

like I said the cloning does seem better but does it allow different resolutions on separate outputs and not the 42" stuck at 1680x1050 ;)

I really hope some amazing guru will point me in the right direction :)

i use the extend and switch display so the 42" becomes the main and the 22" becomes the extention don't get me wrong it works but just a pain i thought others may have a better solution
