Hey all

So I am a recently new PC gamer having built my PC a few months ago....and Ive had nothing but problems so far!

My parts are -

CPU - AMD 7600x
GPU - AMD 9070xt
Motherboard - Asus Rog Strix B650E-I
Ram - Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36
SSD - Kingston NV3 NVMe PCIe 4.0 1TB
Case & PSU - Cooler Master NR200P MAX V2 Mini-ITX SFF Case - 280mm AIO Cooler, 850W SFX Gold ATX 3.0 PSU

PC is connected to my TV through HDMI.

The biggest issue I have had was where I could not even log into my machine as it kept freezing at the login screen - this was after just turning on HDR!
I think this was due to some driver issues as I installed Adrenaline and updated everything there but also downloaded drivers from the Asus website as I thought I needed those too.

I have done a full reset of the machine and reinstalled windows and now HDR is working - I only updated through windows update and adrenaline this time and I thought everything was going swimmingly.

I was playing Cyberpunk one day and workig perfectly - started it again the next day and its just tanking the FPS - I had it locked at 60fps but it was dropping to 50, 40, 30 and up and down, not running smooth at all but also the GPU power wattage was jumping up and down all over the place.

Deleted and reinstalled and working ok again - go to play last night and its doing the same thing all over again! Ive tried verifying the files which put in a 52mb update but still nothing.

These are just the 2 major issues Ive had not mentioning all the other small and annoying issues Ive had.

Is there anything else I can do or try to get things working better? Im at my wits end and have actually disconnected the machine now as its stressing me out so much! When it works its amazing but there just so many constant issues when I just want to have a game that Im wondering if its even worth it when I have my PS5 instead.

It kind of makes me think something may be running in the background and causing slow-down.

How much memory, cpu, and gpu usage are you seeing when this happens?

Do you have Steam set to update while gaming or only when not?

Have a check into what applications are running at Startup and then check if there are any that are scheduled to do scans etc.

Also, a stupid one but do you make sure you restart the PC when you are having these issues?

I need to double check CPU and GPU usage when I get to the machine again.

I only have GOG Galaxy installed with Cyberpunk and I've turned off all startup programmes apart from security and the AMD Adrenaline software.

I've used DDU to clear out all the drivers today (not in safe mode as I couldn't log in) and reinstalled again.

Ram was set to expo 2 so I changed it to expo 1.

I ran some benchmarks on Cyberpunk and it worked really well but defaults to fsr 2.1 - as soon as I get in game the FPS tanks massively up and down.

And yes have been restarting:-)

Nothing high at all - game is unplayable so I'm closing it very quickly.

Was just thinking throttling could produce this effect. I have basically the same case so I know without adequate cooling or limits things can get hot in mini ITX.

I would concentrate on trying to observe what temps and usage (ideally CPU, GPU, disk, network) are doing when you see this issue as you may be able to see what’s going on more clearly.

You could also check system logs for any errors or warnings that could show something going wrong in the background.
