Really odd problem trying to order online from Tescos

I was was at my parents house and my Mum wanted me to order some groceries from Tesco online. I put through the order and went to pay for it so I entered all her card details correctly and the payment process proceeded to the verified by visa page. I entered the characters it requested but it returned me back to the Tesco payment page saying payment hadn't been authorised so I thought 'ok maybe I entered the wrong characters'. I tried again, same thing and four more times but I know I was using the right characters.

This has happened before with Tesco's the last time it happened I took my Mum's debit card details and tried it out on my computer when I got home and low and behold it work I didn't even have to re-enter any card details as they were saved from the previously. I done the same with this evenings order whereby I placed the order on my parents computer and when I got home paid for on mine using the same card details as I was when I was at my parents.

I recently ordered something from Waitrose on my parents PC which used the same verified by visa process as Tesco does and that worked fine it only seems to be Tesco which is having the issues.

It seems to have started when I replaced their old computer with a new one running Windows 7. Their old one used XP sp3 and I didn't have any troubles with that it's only since I built them a new computer they have had issues trying to pay for things on Tesco.com.

Really odd, any ideas?

I tried using both IE and Chrome to pay for this on parents PC. I used Firefox on my PC, could this be browser issue? Seems very unlikely.

I don't believe this has anything to do with the fact it's a Windows 7 machine rather than XP. That has to be just a coincidence. You were able to place a successful order through Waitrose on the exact same PC, so that's further evidence to support that.

The only things I can suggest right now is go into the Tesco account for your parents, delete their card details, then re-enter them. On top of that delete your temporary internet files too, it can't hurt and may well help if it does turn out to be a problem with the PC itself.
 
I have had a similar issue in the past like this. I phoned up the bank, and they sorted something at their end, and i've never had this problem since. It is a rather odd issue, but thats what fixed it for me :)
 
This has happened a few time for me on Tescos website and each time I had to phone Visa up to get them to do something their end. The last time I moaned a bit about it to the lady on the phone and she said Tescos gets this more often than other sites because fraudsters use it a lot. I don't know if that is true or if she was only saying that for some kind of answer.
 
Thanks for tips, next time I place an order with them I'll try Firefox and clear out the cookies and see if that works if not then it's a call to the bank. Once again thank you.
