as my friend fitted a k and n filter on his 125 CBR. he gave me his old stock airfilter from the cbr125. now i have a nsr125 and the filter is sponge and his filter seems to fit.
The filter on one side has 2 layers of wire mesh and one layer of a metal sheet with lots of circuller holes in. I can easily pull those layers off. and am wondering if its safe for the bike to take those layers off as i *think* its one of the CBRs restricters. and i want to put this in my nsr as im sure this filter is better than dirty sponge which is up for a clean soon.

As long as it doesn't support the sponge. Don't know anything about bikes but i know foam filters can be dodgy cause they can break up and get sucked into the intake.

Probably not a restrictor tbh. If they put a resitrictor on the carbs air intake it would royaly screw the mixture if it was removed. Much more likely to be restricted by a throttle stop, or an igntion retard.
