Hey guys,

Can you look over the DSL connection stats that I'm getting from my BT home hub.

Its just disconnected me and reconnected me to a 224kbs down connection... yaaay
I'm in the country-side but usually get 900kbs down.
These are the stats, is the attenuation to high or...

Code:

Big attenuation.

You should do a quiet line test.

Also you could remove the ring wire if you haven't done so already.

You with Be*?

a lot of FEC errors for 9mins uptime IMO?

With BT, how do i do a quiet line test?

Ring wire is removed if I remember correctly, will check in a bit.
Not really sure what FEC errors are lol
Thanks a lot :)

FEC are corrected errors, not necessarily bad but you have had a lot within 9mins up-time.

Quiet Line Test

Unplug any extention phones, extention cables, answer machines or fax (anything except the phone you will use to do the test!).

Plug a normal touch tone phone directly into the BT master socket.

Dial 17070, press option 2 (quiet line test)

You should hear 'Quiet Line Test' and then silence, there should be no pops, clicks, whistles, buzzing etc. If there is noise on the line, make sure it's not your phones connection to the socket (wiggle it about a bit) and that you are using the master socket. If you are sure its the line making the noise then dial BT and report the fault, they should be able to sort it out. Remember that 'mis-reporting' a fault (e.g. if it turns out to be your phone, extention cord etc.) may be charged a call-out fee by BT.

Something very wrong

Very low sync for that attenuation
Too many FEC errors - indicative of poor line (internal or external)

Reviving an old thread wooo!
........

Having a lot of issues with my line again, can some lovely person(s) decipher my line stats/errors?
