Whats funny is, people assume that the ones struggling with debts these day are low-medium earners. That is simply not the case.

fact is this guy has no real debt, is earning a shed load and splashs a lot of it on thing's that simply aren't required AND has a shed load of backup options, he is in absolutely no way strugging

More than one mortgage? how unfortunate you have the capacity to own more than one house, man up, if it comes to it sell one of the houses you don't need.
Oh and parents rich enough to bail you out, terrible, yeah.

You seem like the kind of guy who has had everything provided for him his whole life and is now unable to deal with the real world, just wants everyone to feel sorry for him.

Retirement plan, ha, get real mate, everyone else gets by just fine.

No you don't UNDERSTAND, he NEEDS it. He's 28 for god's sake, it's time to think about retirement and pay that mortgage off NOW. If he doesn't when he hit 40 and retire, he'll have to live in England in a £300,000 detached house and driving a Bentley instead of a golf kart round Southern Spain and the Gold Coast in Australia for 6 months each a year.

I'd be less worried about the mortgage and more worried about the lack of perspective.

I have no sympathy for anyone who loaded up on mortgages trying to make a quick buck out of rising house prices, none what so ever. Obviously you're not making proper use of your assets if you hold that much property and aren't renting any of it.

The economy is going to get a LOT more rocky in the next 18 - 24 months, if you're supposedly not coping right now, you'll be suffering moreso in the short term.

Go see a financial adviser if you don't want to take any decisions for yourself / want to spare friction with the missus. They might even come up with some other ideas of how to utilise your capital.

to be honest i thnk everyone is being a bit harsh on the OP

i too am struggling, ive had to sell the aston, and managing to keep the porche and teh ferrari.

I can only afford 2 weeks in Monaco, and 1 bottle of crystal with dinner not the usual too.

were all suffering i dont know why your all so harsh on him, he might ahve to slum it and goto waitrose for his food.

lmao this is funny, god damn i wish i was his sister. at uni, hundred quid a week spending money. ah mate id LOVE IT, think your being taken on a bit of a ride pal!
sell a house. makes sense. lol

ha - if the OP is struggling on 8k a month, he has a long way to fall when he loses his job - why the hell would a building company employ anybody on 150k a year in this environment? - that sort of job won't last long.

£8k is the joint income isnt it? I thought it was.
Still, £5-6K of that will be his i would have thought, if he is contracting then thats only £275-£300 a day?

And how the hell do you make that much money between two people, anyway? I'm an account manager and my wife is head of department at a drama academy, but our joint income is nowhere near £8k per month.

If I did a little OT during the month Mrs Mad Rapper and I can take home £7K after tax, so it's entirely possible. She's a lawyer and I'm a Forensic IT Investigator. I have to be honest though, we can get by without it and nothing beats a lay in on a Sunday! ;)

It's not hard if you are good at what you do and are willing to take the risks as a contractor. for a permy though, in a non executive role, i would imagine taking home somewhere near £6k a month is quite hard.
