Currently i have 2 500gb HDD in my comp. Comps gets used for some vid editing, wow, playing music and general surfing.

Just about to buy 4gb of XMS3 to upgrade to 8gb, I also have win 7, 2500k @ 4.2ghz 5770 HD. If i do get the SSD it will be for ie wow and win 7 only.

Could i transfer my wow onto the SSD? Im guess a fresh install of win7 on it would be best?

Motherboard is MSI GD65 P67A.

Whats the best SSD for me?

Appreciate help/advice

J

fresh install is always best - dont be lazy lol

plus then you get a chance to see how good the ssd is in comparison ie. installign windows and everything else!!

everyone is saying crucial - i listened to them and just bought a 256gb M4

will fresh install later and report back tomorrow

so far updated firmwire with relative ease - had a problem but it was me doing something simple wrong

go for an SSD. I have the Corsair and the OCZ. The corsair is superior IMO as it has been more reliable.

I use an SSD for boot / OS and a large Sata mechanical drive for storage.

I also product music on cubase and video edit. The SSD has made a HUGE difference in working time for me. Especially rendering etc..

Get a 64GB Crucial M4 for it's Price, Performance and reliability. They're also good to there customers, they released a firmware update that increased Sequential read and write speeds by nearly 100mb/s

I keep holding back myself on ssd as time and time again I am reading about someone who has a failed one and issues. Are they not as reliable or is it just that they get more attention when they fail.

My OCZ Vertex was excellent but kept loosing the windows install! I got it replaced and the new one was fine. The Corsair force GT is very reliable and super fast plus silent. Get one of these you will not regret it.

Instead of starting a new thread etc. I, too am considering to get a SSD.

Apart from the read/write limitation under SATAII -- I wanted to know if there were any problems installing a SATAIII SSD into a SATAII motherboard (assuming they are backward compatible of course)?

Obviously, SATAII/3Gbps = = 384MB/s so I guess it would only be limited by this number (perhaps slightly less due to overheads?) and it will still function properly? Ok thanks for any help.

I was considering in getting either an M4 or a C300.

Also intending to keep RAID on my current two hard drive -- so hopefully no problems there also?
