really wierd problem. Cant highlight text in IE ??

As per the title really

i cant highlight any text in IE. When i left click somewhere, and hold down left mouse and move the mouse, no selection box appears

as a result i cant copy and paste text out of IE

this is with every single website i visit, and isnt a mouse problem as it works fine in Firefox

im running Vista Ultimate 32bit and IE7 obv. anybody heard of anything similar ?

First thing I'd do is reinstall IE, sounds like it's gone boom. Never heard of that problem before, well I have but only on a few websites.

get spy doctor 5 it will find the spyware that has messed up your IE

dont think its spyware

1) ive been browsing in vista with UAC on, so IE is in protected mode. Find it hard to believe that spyware could get past that

2) ive run AVG antivirus / ad aware / etc... and they found nothing

3) theres no other symptoms. No mysterious pop ups, everything else works fine etc.. Why design a piece of spyware that only stops you highlighting text ?

yesterday my IE kept poppin up with ads, i didnt go to no dodgy site(dont use vista for dat

) but i think i got something off torrent.

it was called core.sys and core.disk.sys spy ware, adware didnt find anything nor did windows Crap Defender.

got spy doctor found it and sorted it out.

i uninstalled it after because it ran too many process for my liking lol

have you tried it in no add on mode? possible IE add on program causing the beef...

Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

thats just it though

ive got no dodgy processes

no dodgy pop ups

nothing. everything is fine

so i dont think its spyware.
