The video is based on a level that has been created especially for this showcase. It also can be played live at the Crytek booth on the machines that are provided there. This provides full interaction with the level itself while the physics demonstration is proceding.
This is 100% realtime, prepare to weep.

Taken from GDC08. Sony Bravia advert recreated in Cryengine2:

I have never been more amazed, this engine is just incredible.

Looks incredible, but...

I wouldner how many 9800GX2's in sli it needs to run smoothly, the vid isn't smooth, I recon it'll need at least 3 9800GX2's in 6-sli to get 30 fps.
Much cpu power too for the physics.

The first scenes looking over the city are pretty amazing, it just looks real... CryEngine 2 really is an incredible engine, its just a pity we don't have the hardware to power it properly yet.

If you can run crysis on high the chances are you could run that simulation, it's just a bunch of teapots bouncing in a scene. No ai, no particles, explosions or anything like that.

a bit washed out - bet it wasnt run on a Sony Bravia HDTV ;):p

Very realistic - especially that fire hydrant - like to see how interactive it was though...

ps3ud0

Considering we're still waiting to be able to play crysis and have it look like the dx10 jungle fight vid id shudder to think how far down the line this is.

(yes i know configs can be altered to make it look like it but imo its still not quite as good)

Waiting to be able to play is a bit of an exgaggeration, it's mainly the 60 fps squad saying that, imo crysis is perfectly playable, alas not maxed offcourse.
But yes I doubt we'll see these kind of gfx in games any time soon, wich is a true shame.
Nvidia & Ati contributing to the problem too, releasing the same cards with a next gen name .

Those videos; the animation reminds me of a slightly more realistic toy story. Nice to see that game engines are slowly getting closer to some of the animation work we've seen at the big screen.

I think the first video showcases the lightening effects of this engine superbly and more to the point it looks realistic.
