I have just gone from Crucial ballistic 5300 to Reaper PC8000 and clock for clock, at the same spd settings, the crucial is faster. (2gig to 4 gig)?
I was overclocked with a FSB of 389 x 9, and a clock multiplier of 2 with the crucial at 5 5 5 18 and got a sisoft benchmark (bandwidth) of 6800.
At a multiplier of 2.5 with the Reaper, 5 5 5 18, I got the same even though with the increase in multiplier the clock was faster!
If I put the devider down to 2, the same as the crucial was set to, I actually only get 6200 600 less even though the settings on both have beem manually set to 5 5 5 18?
This was tested in Vista 64 vit, and XP, at a voltage of 2.1v, I only hope I can get some improvement.
I ran memtest in case I was getting errors, but after 2 hours it was clear.
As you can see in my sig this is on a P35C-DS3R.
I have tweaked the Reaper and found the fastest it will go at 5 5 5 18 is 1020 mhz, just 20 over its spec. This would not bother me if it was benchmarking faster than the crucial, but it is not. Anybody any ideas?
By the way, CPUZ confirms the settings as 5 5 5 18, mem voltage set to 2.1v.

I think that both of the sticks use the same IC's (DG9) so in effect, apart from the PCB there are the same sticks with different SPD settings.

Thanks for the input, so they should perform the same if they are the same chips for the same settings.
I can only assume the settings that are different must be other than the 5 5 5 18. In the bios there are more settings I have not touched below the cas etc. I have not compared these to the Crucial, just the standard settings, possibly this is the cause.
I will look into the other settings and see what they are if possible.
Thanks again for the info.
