reason not to upgrade

I have a QX6700 clocked at 3.4 running 4 gig of ram on windows 7 64 giving me good speeds in all apps etc, but I've got this need to update to a decent i5 system that i don't think i need.All review sites compare the two at stock speeds but i need somebody to tell me that the processor i have is more than adequate and i will not see any vast improvements in every day applications

Step up to i7 or wait till i9 is out, probably wouldn't see much of a gain with the i5 unless you overclock it mildly.

Im in the same boat although im on an E6600 at 3.2 runs everything i have fine but i just want to upgrade!

My E4300 and E2160 systems, both at 3.2GHz are fine... you do not need to upgrade!!

There's the part to change. You don't want a new system, just to run this one faster than 3.4

Look for an ssd if you want things to feel much quicker.

my crucial ssd 128 is being delivered this week and my cpu is at stock voltage ,what is the safest amount of juice i can put through the thing to get better speeds

The Q6700 should be fine with upto 1.5v, cooling will be the main concern as the 65nm quads tend to run a bit warmer.

cooling with a Arctic Cooling Freezer at the mo idle temps at 37 and load 57 so should have a bit to play with..

If you have the money to spare and you really have no other need/use for it, just upgrade. If you don't, leave it =)

my sentiment's exactly.

my system run's everything i need it to and then some so i have no reason to upgrade for age's yet.

as some said before "if you have the money then upgrade"

if your system tick's all your boxes then leave it alone.
