Reasons to be a PC Gamer in 2006

crysis is going to require new hardware for everyone isnt it? as its DX10 everyone will need a DX10 graphics card right

not too worried about it, ive read of something called directx9 L which should bridge the gap and be able to use dx10 programming.
this is in no way concrete though obviously but we'll see.

loads of war based games  :(

also loads of new RPGs, some of them look interesting, would be nice to have a easy to get into space RPG. I've thought of trying EVE Online but I've seen things take days to learn/develop :(

Err....no.
When the very first DirectX 9 game came out was everyone forced to buy a DirectX 9 video card?
You just don't see the DX10 features - if your hardware doesn't support a feature you can't use or see it.
The application/game will still run just fine.

i have a very very good reason to be a pc gamer in 2006 ;) *says nothing..yet*

EDIT wow crysis looks amazing

damn page doesnt load properly in firefox as well

eek! time to sell the pc for me then

I'm quite happy sticking with BF2:sf / gt legends / tiger 06 /pro evo 5 as there's not much that I fancy out of that list.

Each to their own.
Won't be playing much of them without a PC :p

And next year looks damn good - Heroes of might and magic 5, rise of legends, warhammer: mark of chaos, STALKER, prey, Oblivion, HL2:Aftermath, Sin: Epsiodes, Spore, spellforce 2, GTR2, Hellgate: London,Neverwinter nights 2, Gothic 3, BROKEN SWORD 4, SAM & MAX 2, Crysis, Quake Wars, UT2007 and Alan wake all look very promising :D

If my current spec cant play all these games on that list on high/max ill be very gutted :p

Theres lots of games on that list that i want so its gonna be expensive on top of the ps3 coming out.
Also plan on buying a x2 cpu later this year and a nice monitor so thats like £600+ blinking hell im gonna be skint :)

few on there thats looks good just a shame like with a lot of pc games they eaither

1. get moved to console platforms then we wont see them again for the pc
2. never see the light of day
3. bug infested

i aint holding my breath tbh ive been disapointed to amny time :(

well get used to being very gutted because the DX10 games on that list you wont be able to play on high/max, you'll only be able to get the DX9 settings

some of them, depending on the way they are made, you might not even be able to play at all if they only want to write it with DX10 in mind
