Reboot and select proper Boot device

I get this message when windows would normally start up. I noticed that i couldn't see my HD listed in the BIOS and also i tried using the repair problem on the installation disc which also confirmed a missing hard drive.

The HD light is on constantly so does that mean its on? Im not sure if theres a seperate cable for the light and the HD itself. I'll have a look inside the case tomorrow to check connections, from what i can see everything looks ok though. Anyone had this before?

Is this a new build/rebuild? or has the system been running fine for a while n this just started?
If its new Id suggest you check everythings wired up properly, if its been ok n just started Id suggest you HDD has died, this may be the case on a new build also, it might be DOA
Assuming you mean the HDD LED on the case then yeah thats one of the little fiddly connectors on corner of mobo

Its been fine for 2 years now. I'll check the wires are firmly connected later tonight. Is all my data unrecoverable if its dead then?
