So My PC went **** up yesterday (Mentioned in another thread).

I tried to install windows however got errors and all that.

When I boot my PC with ANY or NO HDD or the OS SSD in, I get the following error message.

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
Or Insert Boot Media In Selected device and press a key.

This happens regardless if my OS SSD is in or not.

I tried to Re-Install windows on the SSD via another machine and the SSD is detected on that machine and is able to boot windows Yet when I move the SSD to my main machine nothing happens.

I have lost my Windows CD but I am able to borrow my cousins (later tonight) as I was thinking I would have to re-install windows again...

I don't care about having to re-install windows again but I want to know why I get the same error regardless of any SSD / HDD in or not, and why the SSD boots on the other machine.

Cheers

Cables are fine, I unplugged them and replugged them, I also tried the SSD in a different port.

This is my boot order;

and just for fits and giggles you don't have any USB keys oe phones plugged in? I spent 30+ mins once swearing and shouting just to find my Blackberry was charging and was preventing boot.

I know you have probably checked this but..........

Dude, I really don't know, sorry. Your problem just seemed to be similar to what I had...

If you can get into the console and everything, I guess the recovery disk is fine. You could always try with another one or a .iso on a USB if you have reason to doubt your disk.

Paging someone more knowlegable than me!

I just attempted the standard angry clicking and changing and what not and behold...

So maybe it was the RAID setting or something... But Its installing windows now.

Not out the woods yet but its progress.

Installed perfectly, got a BSOD but that was due to BIOS setting RAID again so I fixed that.

That would be It then.

24 Hours and 2 broken sata Cables Later, its working now and windows is all installed.

Your help has been golden.

Thanks a Bunch

Yep.

Well it was some bright sparks idea to cable tie them to the back of the case so when you pull out the SSD it just snapped the clips right off...
