Yup I have heard it is well under way but they have had major production issues with 2 directors leaving as well as Reynolds.

There was rumblings about a reboot/remake in 2011, got shelved. Still waiting..

I would love to see Neil Blomkamp take the reins. David lynchs movie is 30years old. The story is even more relevant today. Frank Herbert could clearly see into the future.

Or

Give it to HBO and let them do their magic, or accept that Game of thrones is the Dune remake

Same actors, Tom Cruise looking pretty similar, Goose would still be bald, Kilmer would need a double wide jet to fit in the thing, would be hilarious... though end up closer to Hot Shots than Top Gun.

Saying that, I guess the new movies are a continuation.
