I am looking to upgrade my Epson CX6600 (which has served me well) with a new all in one. The only extra criteria I have is that it must be capable of printing directly onto a CD. I am not fussy about the manufacturer and have no real budget so that I can consider anything.

I use a Canon IP5300 - cannot recommend it enough because:

1. Great quality black/white printing
2. Duplex printing (sooo handy)
3. Great prints on CD's
4. Throw in some decent photo paper and get high street quality prints.

Canon make an all in one version for £84:

The only problem is you have to use Canon inks as they are chipped, but I don't mind considering the great quality.

look for a HP cant reccomend them enough for being good! i have had two and being silly i replaced my first with a epsom and boy was i wrong it was crap!

I can vouch for an HP C4180 that I got off the Bay for £30 - Multifunction Scanner, Copier and printer/photo printer. It's just gold - Got a refurb and it works like a dream.

2nd that I got a brand new one a few months back for £54 and its superb.

Also can you use a cis auto ink supply system with it even though the cartridges are chipped

Yes you can, but... The printer realises you are using non Canon ink, and gives you 2 options:

1. Put in new Canon cartridge
2. Continue using CIS and void your warranty (Canon will detect this if you return for service). You also loose ink level monitoring, but not such an issue with CIS
